Team Registration:  

Update:  Registration for basketball is now closed. 

Teams withdrawing after confirmed registration will forfeit their fee.  

1.      Cost/team: $380.  Includes convention registration for all team members (12 max) at no additional cost.

2.      Registration Deadline – closed.

3.      Teams are encouraged to register early:

3.1.   5% discount for early registration (for the first 10 teams).

3.2.   Team registering first holds the right to retain their jersey in case of color clash.

3.3.   . Priority will be given to the team registered first.

4.      Teams withdrawing after acceptance will forfeit their fee.

Rules and Regulations:

In addition to the rules and regulations spelled out on the main sports page, the following also apply to Men’s Basketball:

1.      We will be placing an extra emphasis on security for the betterment of all participants.

2.      Maximum number of players allowed per team: 12.

3.      Each player may only play from one team during the tournament.

4.      Each team member needs to fill the Liability waiver form by 8am on July 2nd, 2010. This is to ensure that all participants agree to not hold organizers liable should any injury or harm result from participating in the tournament.

5.      It will be the responsibility of the captains to make sure all team members sign this form and bring the fully filled and signed original form to the venue when they report for the first scheduled game.  All team members must be present and have proper ID with them at the time.  Players will not be allowed to compete without signing these forms.  

6.      All team captains and team members are required to be present at the venue at least 30 minutes before the start of games.

7.      It will be the responsibility of team captains to ensure that all players comply with all rules and regulations including signing the waiver form in time.

8.      Additional rules may apply.

Game Time/Duration:

First round:

Two 20-minute halves; running time until last two minutes of each half with 5 to 10 minute half time. In addition, Clock will also stop during time-outs, injuries, & referee time-outs.

Teams are permitted 2 twenty second time-outs per half. Time-outs that are not used from the 1st half will NOT roll over to the 2nd half. The ball will NOT advance to mid-court when a team calls a time-out from the opposition's baseline.

Playoffs:

Two 24 minute halves; running time until last 2 minutes of each half with 5 to 10- minute half time. In addition, Clock will also stop during time-outs, injuries, & referee time-outs.

10.  It is recommended that each team be present at the tournament field at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.

11.  Due to limited time, any team not ready to play within 5 minutes of the scheduled start time will forfeit the game.  

DISQUALIFICATION RULE & TECHNICAL FOULS:

·         Teams shoot 1-and-1 on the 7th team foul and 2 shots on the 10th team foul and all fouls thereafter.

·         Players are disqualified after their 5th personal foul.

·         All technical fouls will result in the opposing team receiving two (2) foul shots and possession of the ball. 

·         All technical fouls will also count as a personal foul and team foul.

·         If a player receives a 2nd technical foul, they will be ejected from the game. Player may be suspended at the discretion of the organizers.

PLAYOFF TIEBREAKERS:

In the event of teams having identical records, the following will be used to break ties. 

·         Win-Loss between head to head competitions.

·         Point differential (team with the greatest margin of victory).

·         Team with earlier registration gets the priority.

Player Equipment and Uniforms:

12.  All players must have the assigned matching colors for jerseys.

13.  Players who are severely injured will not be allowed to participate.

14.  No metal items including rings, watches, necklace, etc can be worn during the games.

15.  Players are recommended to bring more than one jersey (with different color).

16.  Officials may ask a team to change jerseys if s/he determines the jersey colors of the two teams to be similar. The team who registered later would be required to change jerseys.

17.  Substitutions:

a.       Unlimited substitutions will be allowed.

b.      Substitutions can only be made with the consent of referees. All substitutes must check in at the scorer’s table .

Overtime:

First round & Playoffs: Overtime will last 3 minutes (running time until last sixty (60) seconds); each subsequent overtime games will last 3 minutes (no stoppage time); each team is awarded 1 additional time-out per overtime. Team fouls will also roll-over to the overtime period.

Finals: Overtime will last 5 minutes (running time until last 2 min); each subsequent overtime games will last 3 minutes (no stoppage time); each team is awarded 1 additional time-out per overtime. Team fouls will also roll-over to the overtime period.

Sportsmanship Conduct:

18.  Any improper action that could lead to confrontation will result in player/s or team/s disqualification.  Player/s, team/s could get ejected from the tournament.

19.  Starting from this year, in extreme cases, the ANA Sports Council could also prohibit players/teams from participating in future tournaments.

20.  All players, team manager/coach, and spectators are expected to display sportsmanship qualities at all times.

21.  Captain and Coordinator/Manager/Coach will be held responsible for the conduct of all players within their team.

22.  Anyone not able to comply with these rules will be asked to remove themselves from the court.

Awards:

23.  There will be an award for the champion and runner-up.

24.  A most valuable player (MVP) award will also be awarded.
